Punched by a Junkie
I can finally check this off my 'things to do before I die' list...
Last night, I was giving a tour of the red light district (small group only 4 tourists). On this tour something crazy or bizarre usually happens. It was about an hour into the tour and I realized that nothing weird had happened yet. So I knew something could happen at any minute... and it did.
I was walking them by the Old Church (yes, a church in the red light district) and I stopped them in front of the Prostitution Information Center (
veetor's fav place). Before I really had a chance to say anything about the PIC a female junkie approached the group. She looked to be about 60 years old so I'm guessing she was really about 45-50. Also she was tripping really hard off of cocaine. She offered my group and I a gram of cocaine for 50 EUR (does anyone know if that's a good deal or not?). I was being polite and told here that it was too expensive for us and that we wouldn't be needing any drugs. Usually at this point the junkies will leave you alone... but not this bitch. She shouted, "Well all you can go fuck yourselves!!!" Still trying to be polite, I said "Yes... we'll definitely go do that." Then she pushed me and told me to fuck myself again (like I could even do that the first time... let alone twice). She told us to leave so that we would stop ruining her trying to make some money. Apparently, she thought we were standing in her corner. But it wasn't hers... I take tours through there all the time and hadn't ever seen her at that corner... she was lost. But good luck trying to reason with a junkie.
So I moved the group away from the PIC and closer to the church hoping Jesus would protect us. Apparently we hadn't moved far enough away from her spot cause she came back over to us and pushed one of my tourist. I got between her and my tourist and told her to go away. She put her hands together like a fake gun and said that she was going to blow my motherfucking head off. I pushed her "gun" out of my face and she came back with a punch to the stomach. Now it didn't hurt... it was actually a pathetic punch. I wanted to hit her back but I was afraid that I would break her (these junkies have really brittle bones and can snap in half at any minute). So we walked even further away from her and she ended up pushing us all as we were walking away. At that time, a big group of tourists walked by and she started harassing them and left us alone. We were free!
About two stops later, it finally occurred to me... I had been punched in the stomach by a junkie. I had to ask my tourist if it had really happened because I still didn't believe it.
Man! I love this city!
