Scorpion Watch - Day 2

So I haven't have any nightmares about scorpions... yet!  Also there haven't been any more sightings either.  Thank goodness.  But the crazy paranoia has definitely set in.

I don't walk around the house unless I've got shoes on (which kills me cause I love being barefoot).  Any time I'm at a counter in the kitchen or the bathroom, I'm making sure I stand as far away as possible so that the scorpions under the overhangs don't jump out and attack me (they are there waiting for me).  Lights on at all times.  And the toilet gets a thorough inspection before any business is conducted there.

Those are the easy things to do.  The hard part is dealing with the little bastards' ability to blend into the carpet.  I did some research on the particular type of carpet that my parents have.  It turns out that the manufacturers were originally going to call it 'scorpion brown' but at the last minute changed it to beige.  Go figure.

And the shoe problem... I thought about hanging them on hooks from my ceiling.  But I'm not wasting all that energy.  Instead, I'm just placing them on high shelves.  When I need to put them on, I'll just throw them against a wall a few times to make sure they aren't occupied.

My parents informed me that we would be spraying for them sometime this week.  Now this would be a good thing, if the scorpions just stayed in their holes or whatever and died peacefully.  But this stuff doesn't kill them immediately.  They first get sick and then come out of their hiding places looking for the nearest clinic.  They are stumbling around our house and running into things like the walls or our dog.  It would make me laugh if I wasn't already screaming and running in terror.  Then after they die, their carcasses just lay there taunting me and waiting for my parents to dispose of them. [like I'm going to allow them to reanimate the moment I pick them up with a paper towel.  I'm smarter than that]

Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.
